Buining Design (trading as PIA β Personal Intelligence Assistant) processes personal data solely to provide the PIA service. This section describes in detail which data is collected, why, how it is stored, and with whom it is shared.
PIA never sells your personal data to third parties and does not use your data for advertising purposes.
8.1 Data collected and purpose
-
Account credentials (email address & password) β collected when you register or log in to PIA. Your email address and password are transmitted securely (HTTPS) to our backend at pia-app.online for authentication. Passwords are stored hashed and are never stored or transmitted in plain text.
-
Google account (name & email address) β collected via Google OAuth when you connect your Google account for the dashboard widgets (Gmail, Calendar, Tasks). Used solely to identify which Google account to retrieve data from. Stored in our backend database at pia-app.online.
-
Gmail messages (read-only) β PIA reads e-mail subjects, senders, and content summaries to display relevant information on your dashboard. E-mail content is processed in real time and is not permanently stored on our servers; it is only cached briefly (session duration) to generate your personal overview.
-
Google Calendar events (read-only) β PIA reads your upcoming calendar events (title, date, time, location) to show them on your dashboard. Event data is processed in real time and is not permanently stored on our servers.
-
Google Tasks (read-only) β PIA reads your task lists and tasks (title, due date, status) to display them on your dashboard. Task data is processed in real time and is not permanently stored on our servers.
-
Location β PIA requests access to your location (city/region) to display current weather on your dashboard. Location data is used solely for the weather API request and is not stored on our servers.
-
Website content (page title and URL) β when you save a bookmark via the context menu or popup, PIA captures the title and URL of the relevant web page. This data is stored in your bookmark collection in the backend database.
-
Browser history β PIA reads recent browser history locally within your browser to show your most-visited sites on your personal dashboard. Browser history is never transmitted to our servers and is processed exclusively within your browser.
-
Bookmarks and user activity β bookmarks you save via PIA are stored in our backend database at pia-app.online, so they are available on every device where you are logged in. PIA tracks how often you click a bookmark in order to improve the ordering and relevance of your bookmarks. This click data is stored in the backend database and is linked exclusively to your own account.
-
Extension storage (local) β personal settings, preferences, and dashboard configuration are stored locally in your browser (Chrome storage API). This data does not leave your device.
-
Payment data β subscription and billing data is processed exclusively by Stripe. PIA does not store full payment card details. We only receive a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
-
Technical usage data β anonymous error logs and performance data may be collected to maintain and improve the service. This data contains no personally identifiable information.
8.2 Legal basis for processing
Data is processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (necessary for the performance of the Agreement) and, where relevant, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests of PIA regarding reliability, security, and service maintenance).
8.3 Data sharing
PIA does not share personal data with third parties, except in the following cases:
- Stripe β for payment processing (subscription management);
- Google APIs β data is retrieved from Google services on your behalf under your own Google account authorisation;
- Perplexity AI β used to generate personalised news feeds on the dashboard. Only a generic query is sent; no personal account data is transmitted;
- Anthropic Claude β may be used for AI-powered analyses and smart suggestions on the dashboard. Where used, only the minimum necessary context is sent; no raw Gmail, Calendar, or Tasks content is transmitted without your knowledge;
- Hosting & infrastructure providers β our backend runs on secure hosting infrastructure with appropriate data processing agreements in place;
- Legal obligations β if required by law or in legal proceedings.
8.4 Data retention
- Account data (name, email, subscription status) is retained for as long as your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account closure.
- Gmail, Calendar, and Tasks content is not persistently stored; it is fetched on demand and discarded after your session.
- Browser history data never leaves your device.
- Payment records are retained by Stripe in accordance with their own privacy policy and applicable financial regulations.
8.5 Security
Personal data is stored securely with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and strictly limited access rights.
8.6 Your rights as a data subject
ποΈAccess β request what data we hold about you
βοΈRectification β have incorrect data corrected
ποΈErasure β have your data deleted
βΈοΈRestriction β restrict how we process your data
π«Objection β object to processing based on legitimate interest
π¦Portability β receive your data in a readable format
9.1. Changes to these terms will be published on the website and apply from the moment the Customer uses PIA again.
9.2. The laws of the Kingdom of the Netherlands apply. In case of disputes, the court in Amsterdam has jurisdiction, unless mandatory rules provide otherwise.
9.3. If any provision of these terms is void or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. PIA will then formulate a new, reasonable provision that approximates the original purpose as closely as possible.
